Here are some lndscape photos I took in Manitoba, Canada, in July of 2006. Who says flat land can't be beautiful?
The U.S.-Canada border from middle of the continent to the west is one long imaginary line along the 49th parallel. This photo is taken on that border, which extends toward the two lone trees on the horizon. Looking east near Emerson.
Same location on the USA-Canada border, looking west toward Emerson, Manitoba and Noyes, Minnesota (and just beyond Noyes, Pembina, North Dakota).
How did I know I was right on the border? The silver-painted concrete obelisk marks the spot. This obelisk sits about a mile east of Emerson and Noyes, along Boundary Road on the Manitoba side.

The Manitoba Welcome Center, just north of immigration and customs on Highway 75 in Emerson.
Union Point United Church, an iconic prairie church along Highway 75 near St. Agathe. Church stands in middle of northbound and southbound lanes of highway, and is visible for some distance.

Late evening sun illuminates golden wheat fields west of Winnipeg. Isolated thunderstorms are still brewing over the prairies.
Beaches in Manitoba? Yes, along Lake Winnipeg, less than an hour north of the city.
